More than Kobe at Megu Midtown

27 04 2007

Dramatic in scope with towering ceilings and sprawling illuminated lanterns, Megu in midtown, an offshoot of Megu in Tribeca, is a bi-level space tucked inside the Trump World Tower across from the UN. Lavish in its decor, it tickles the senses: from the crystal chandelier at the front entrance, to the open sushi bar with ice-carved Buddha, to the vintage kimono-lined bar upstairs. Although vast, it is has softness and warmth, offering an ideal setting for a business lunch, an intimate dinner where one can sink into a gorgeous bottle of wine from the restaurant’s excellent list, or an exclusive dinner in one of their private spaces. The food is equally impressive, notably the Akami Tuna, Ravioli Style and “Gempei Miso” Marinated Lamb Chops. Kampai!
